Leaders and the well known representatives of almost all organisations and communities were invited to the Forum. Some 400 of our compatriots from 31 countries were among 1105 delegates took part in the fist session . Azerbaijan National Anthem was played at 11.00 a.m. and the Forum was declaired open. President of Azerbaijan Republic Heydar Aliyev in a lengthy speech stressed the need for strengthening of Azerbaijani Diaspora and it's connection with their country of origin. He also touched upon the issues of the national Azerbaijani language, preservation of the sights and historical memorials of Azerbaijan, and the most important of all to return to their origin. He noted that every Azerbaijanis must remember his Fatherland, history, culture and know his native language. At the end of his speech, he announced formation of a new state structure, which will strengthen the relation between Diaspora and the Republic of Azerbaijan. He called upon the Azerbaijanis of the world to unite and help to create a powerful Azerbaijani State. Members of well-known NGO-s of Azerbaijan, members of Azerbaijan Parliament, ministers, scientists, artists and others were also among the invitees. After President's speech Arslan Aydar, of Turkey, MP of Grand National Assemly in a passionate speech called on Armenian to come to their sense and put an end to the occupation before it is too late. He called Armenia an small island in Turkic ocean.
